Tame the slopes of the Pic du Midi
Skiing the faces of the Pic du Midi is a unique experience in the Pyrenees, the equivalent of La Grave in the Alps. With its high-mountain itineraries in a pristine, ungroomed and unmarked area, the freeride area is accessible by cable car. But before you set off at an altitude of almost 3,000m, you’ll need a good knowledge of the mountains and the sport. For a safe descent, there’s nothing better than following the tracks and taking the advice of a professional, such as a mountain guide.
Among the itineraries, the ” Coume du Pic ” on the La Mongie side promises a 10km descent with a vertical drop of over 1,700 metres, while the ” Classique ” on the Barèges side leads all the way to the Tourmalet chairlift. From the Taoulet intermediate station, routes such as the yellow, green and violet offer a good start.
