Luz Ardiden

Luz Ardiden has nothing to envy the great ski areas of the Pyrenees. With 60km of pistes, there’s something to suit every level of skier. Whether you come with family or friends, for contemplative or more athletic skiing, there’s something for everyone. When the pistes close, the resort comes alive with activities. If you’re looking for a bit of relaxation, head for the village of Luz-Saint-Sauveur, where thefestive atmosphere reigns in the narrow streets.

Discover

Discover the resort

Luz Ardiden is all about conviviality. A resort on a human scale, where it’s good to live, ski, contemplate and stroll. After skiing, you can choose between two ambiences: extend your day on the snow with original adventures, or head for the village, the beating heart of the valley, to enjoy the festivities.

Enjoy an evening of snowshoeing and garbure

in a shepherd’s hut

At last light, we set off in a small group with a mountain leader to explore all the ridges of Aulian at around 2000m altitude. The view is breathtaking, the peaks a shadow of their former selves as the sun fades. We then head for the cabane de Conques, a traditional shepherd’s hut, to warm up by the fire. There, on the table, is a snack worthy of the name. On the menu: charcuterie to whet the appetite, the famous garbure, cheese, pie and mulled wine. After sharing a few anecdotes with the guide, it’s time to set off again, headlamp on, to return to the station under a sparkling starry sky.

Luz Saint-Sauveur

An ideal base camp

Elegant and authentic

A stay in Luz-Saint-Sauveur is a taste of the charm of the Toy region. A nickname meaning “small” in Gascon, once used to describe the inhabitants of this Pyrenean valley. The village lies at the crossroads of the Luz Ardiden, BarègesGrand Tourmalet, Gavarnie and Cauterets ski resorts. Depending on how you feel about skiing and the weather, you can choose to enjoy one of these four resorts, each offering spectacular scenery.

The medieval streets, wash-houses, wrought-iron balconies and marble frames are a journey back in time. A journey punctuated by monuments, each more interesting than the last. Starting with the 12th-century church of the Knights Templar.

A village with restaurants where you can sample traditional dishes and recipes: garbure, the local soup, pastet, the cheese from the Toy region, PDO Barèges Gavarnie mutton, an ancestral sheep farm renowned for its quality.

A village where you can enjoy a moment of well-being at Luzéa. An original après-ski centre in elegant 19th-century architecture offering spas, treatments, massages and relaxing baths at the foot of the mountains. An elegant, authentic village. An ideal base camp from which to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
