Cieléo

The Cieléo thermal spa, located in the highest spa resort in France, offers visitors the chance to relax in an idyllic setting that’s perfect for observing the sky. A thermoludic spa, a jacuzzi with a view surrounded by a glass dome and a celestial nursery invite you to relax under the stars.

At the heart of the International Starry Sky Reserve and on the ascent to the Col du Tourmalet, the village of Barèges owes its reputation to its water, which rises from the earth at an altitude of 1,250 metres. This makes it the highest spa resort in France. At the end of the main street in this little village of just 170 souls, the spa houses Cieléo at its western end.

Relaxation areas

The thermal water pool

Here you don’t have to run through the corridors to get to the other baths. Nor is there any risk of catching cold as soon as you get out of the water. The sauna and steam room are located on either side of the central pool.

Bubble benches, massaging jets and whirlpool effects are the main features of this bath. It’s the perfect size for relaxing with the whole family (children aged 6 months and over are welcome).

The jacuzzi with a view

On the other side of the pool, you have to climb a wooden staircase to find yourself facing an exceptional panorama. A 180° view over the rooftops of Barèges and the Pays Toy valley.

Immersed in the bubbling water of the jacuzzi, you can easily see the peaks, including the unmissable Pic d’Ardiden at an altitude of 2,988m.

The deckchairs around the bath invite you to bask in the sunshine beneath this majestic glass dome.

The different treatments

A moment for yourself

Treatments at La Barégine

Among the institute’s many treatments and massages, Barégine is used as a natural soothing element. This mucilaginous substance is found underground in the establishment. Ever since it was discovered and its natural benefits noted, particularly by soldiers convalescing in the military hospital opposite, the Barèges-Barzun thermal baths have been growing and harvesting this filamentous substance. Its virtuous properties treat joint and muscle pain.

Thermal balneotherapy

Thermal water treatments such as the Scottish shower, the massaging shower, the hydrotonic jet, the hydrorevitalising bath or the hot mud wrap(pelotherapy) are among the services offered by the Cieléo spa.

They can be booked individually or included in a Pass.

Our favourite

The celestial nursery

Once you’ve finished relaxing at Cieléo, the link with the stars comes naturally. As night falls, a short path leads to a clearing ideal for observing the sky. The village’s former nursery, appropriately named the “celestial nursery”, has just been fitted out with a platform, a wooden chaise longue and a forest sofa for stargazing.
