Nestling in the heart of a valley on the edge of the Baronnies is the spa town of Capvern-les-Bains, nicknamed the “kidney and weight loss capital” because of the diuretic properties of its waters. Exploited since Roman times, the waters of Capvern-les-Bains were later praised by Montaigne, before treating celebrities such as Fernandel and Tino Rossi, who made the village famous.
The renowned spa has since added a Viking-inspired balneotherapy centre, L’Édenvik.

This large glass dome, which cannot be missed from the outside, has a striking décor. The sculptures of animal heads in the trunks, inspired by Norse mythology, suggest that drakkars landed on the banks of Hount Caoute, the spring that feeds the establishment.
Under its wooden vault, the Scandinavian chill quickly escapes once you plunge into the main 120 m2 pool heated to 33°. Geysers, Jacuzzis, counter-current swimming and massaging jets are all available to help you enjoy the benefits of thermal water to the full. Next to the pool, a wooden alcove houses two showers, where water flows in the form of tropical rain and a waterfall to relax the body.
The final décor, the centrepiece of Édenvik, hides the Viking steam bath: a combination of hammam and ice shower to round off this Nordic getaway.

Édenvik offers a wide variety of treatments and massages using different techniques: Ayurveda, sophro relaxation, reflexology, shiatsu, sound modelling, watsu, etc. A world tour of Polynesia, Indonesia, the Orient and Thailand is on offer.
Spa-inspired treatments such as hydrotherapy are also available.

As well as the benefits of the warm waters, Édenvik offers an extensive fitness programme from Monday to Saturday, including aquagym, aquabike, aqua step, cardio training and Pilates.
To discover all these activities, the establishment has introduced a subscription to try out all the classes at €55 or €110, for 5 or 10 sessions.
And to prolong the effort, a gym hosts group classes every morning to strengthen muscles and improve flexibility. Danielle, Édenvik’s sports advisor, also provides individual coaching.
Between well-being and sports activities, Édenvik has one last area that is, to say the least, unexpected. As part of this drive to improve health, the centre organises cooking workshops in the form of 2-hour group classes.
Ingredients are selected according to their nutritional value, for a healthy recipe.
At the end of each class, students leave with a balanced menu proposal. In addition to the cooking workshop, dietetic consultations are available to develop a nutritional programme tailored to each individual.

Baby swimming sessions
Edenvik offers baby swimming sessions as part of its aqua sport subscription, with the aim of developing baby awareness, encouraging greater independence in the water and strengthening the emotional bond between parents and children. Aquagym and relaxation classes are also available for expectant mothers.
