The refuge in the forest

In the Val d'Azun

With snowshoes on your feet, you follow Gwenaëlle as she leads you to the little refuge in the heart of the forest, where Vanessa and Mathieu welcome you with a broad smile. You’ll receive a warm welcome, tasty snacks and generous meals. At night, accompanied by Gwenaëlle, you can venture out around the refuge to admire the starry sky and listen to the sounds of the forest. During the day, Gwenaëlle will accompany you from pass to pass, taking in fabulous landscapes and panoramas.

Arrival day

On the way to the refuge

Meet your guide at the station (Col de Couraduque) at 4.30pm. Then off to the Haugarou refuge on snowshoes.

Check-in, meal and overnight stay at the refuge.

Continuation of the tour

Snowshoeing through the Cols

Full-day snowshoe hike (10am-4pm): climb to the Col de Bazès through the forest and continue on to the Col de Berbeillet for its unobstructed view of the Val d’Azun peaks. Optional ascent to the Pic de Berbeillet. Return by the same route.

Enjoy a snack, followed by a convivial dinner, before spending the night in the refuge. You will then go on an evening outing in the immediate vicinity of the refuge to listen to the sounds of the night and observe the stars.

Family snowshoe hike

Full-day snowshoe hike (10am-4pm): climb to the Col de Couraduque and Col de la Serre, continue to the Arragnat forest, and return to the Col de Couraduque. End of the tour.

Refuge situated in the Bergons valley in the heart of the forest, on the Tour du Val d’Azun GR101. Accessible by car in summer via the Bergons road, the Col de Couraduque and the Col de Spandelles, and in winter on skis, snowshoes and on foot via the Col de Couraduque.
