programme

On the programme for your stay

3 days / 3 nights

Day of arrival

You arrive in Saint-Lary at your hotel, a 5-minute walk from the heart of the village and the cable cars, opposite the Sensoria balneotherapy centre. You will have dinner at the venue of your choice and then spend the night at the hotel.

Continuation of the tour

Hike to the Col de Bastan

The first ascents will be made using the chairlifts; this allows you to gain a few metres in height difference but above all to arrive more quickly in the Reserve and thus enjoy it more. Hike to the Col de Bastan then back to the Refuge de l’Oule. Dinner and overnight at the Lac de l’Oule refuge.

Difference in altitude 700 m. – Walking time 6h

In the heart of the Reserve

Breakfast and departure for a day of ski touring in the heart of the Néouvielle. First steep ascent to the Col d’Estoudou before descending towards Lac d’Orédon. As a bonus, you’ll be able to climb the Monpelat soum, which offers a view of the Reserve’s many lakes.

Dinner and overnight at the Orédon refuge.

Ascent 900 m – Walking time 6h

Across the frozen lakes

Starting from the Orédon refuge, you climb up to the Aumar and Aubertlakes before continuing to the Aumar pass. A long traverse then takes you to Lac des Gourgets before descending to Lac de l’Oule via the Port Bielh valley. The ascent to the Col de Portet is by ski lift.

  • Level required

3 very sporty days in a snowy and isolated high mountain environment, with all the risks that entails.

That’s why, to take part in this trip, you’ll need to be sporty (2 to 3 sports sessions a week), know how to ski (comfortable on red runs) and know the basics of avalanche rescue.

In other words, you need to know how to use your avalanche transceiver at different stages of the search, how to take a precise sounding and how to shovel effectively (courses are available).

The Néouvielle National Nature Reserve

The land of lakes

The Néouvielle massif is a unique natural mountain area, with a highly original bioclimate. Its rich flora and fauna, lakes and landscapes have long been the focus of special attention. Created in 1936, this reserve is one of the first in France.

There are over 570 species of algae and almost 70 lakes. The frozen, sparkling waters of Aumar, Aubert, Orédon and Cap de Long punctuate the landscape. This is a paradise for nature lovers, with numerous ski touring itineraries on offer.
