Few places of worship are open at night. At Lourdes, the Sanctuary grounds are open 7 days a week from 6am to midnight and a mass is celebrated every evening at 11pm at the Grotto. This is an ideal time to get to know Lourdes, because the magic of this place is even more apparent at night.

After spoiling your eyes, it’s time to treat your taste buds. Head for Le Viscos, in Saint-Savin, home of Jean-Pierre and Alexis Saint-Martin. This is a real local institution, hidden away in a charming village perched on a rocky outcrop. Before sitting down to dinner, take a short, charming stroll from the square in Saint-Savin to the Notre-Dame-de-Piétat chapel, set on its promontory overlooking the valley. Enjoy the view from the terrace in the shade of the lime trees.

The bar is open 24 hours a day for a glass of Veuve Cliquot champagne, a great whisky or an Alain Miliat fruit juice accompanied by first-class tapas.
The tea room offers 20 great Dammann teas, a selection of excellent coffees and the famous “L’Africain” hot chocolate.
