Family holidays

Charming by nature

In the Val d'Azun
  • 160

Looking for a pastoral break in the heart of summer? Head for the Val d’Azun, land of shepherds, milking and cheese, for a holiday specially designed for nature lovers, those who love animals as much as wide open spaces and beautiful landscapes. You’ll be staying in a 4* campsite in this charming valley in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park. It’s a joyful, friendly base from which to explore the surrounding sites – Gavarnie, Cauterets-Pont d’Espagne – and board a high-altitude train that travels at an altitude of over 2,000 metres. Gilles’s llamas, the sled dogs and all the other feathered and furry residents of the Parc Animalier des Pyrénées will also be your holiday companions.

programme

On the programme for your stay

8 days / 7 nights

The Val d’Azun, a pretty, unspoilt valley dotted with a dozen or so small mountain villages with slate roofs and stone walls, is a land of livestock farming born of the harmonious complicity between man and nature.
Pastoral traditions are still very much alive here, and farmhouse cheese is famous.

This is how your holidays flow… between torrents, lakes, nature and greenery, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, with the hours ticking away at a leisurely pace… The mornings are slow, the days at your own pace!

Your activities

Guided llama trekking (½ day)

Meet the llamas and their guide for a ride. Your children will be proud to lead their great adventure companions!

Cani-rando (2 h)

With the cani-rando, you can try out a new approach to hiking by letting yourself be pulled along by sled dogs. They lead the way and, boosted by their energy, the kilometres and gradients become painless…

The Pyrenees Wildlife Park

Spend a special moment with the marmots and the 600 residents of the Parc Animalier des Pyrénées. Bears, wolves, isards, marmots, lynx, roe deer, otters, squirrels… around a hundred species live in semi-liberty on the hill reserved for the park. You’ll cross the valley of birds of prey, the large ungulate immersion park (ibex, mouflon, isard…), the deer combe, etc.

Balneotherapy (2h)

In the bubbles of the Jardin des Bains, you can enjoy the benefits of the warm, exotic waters. Enjoy the water gardens, the walking trail, the scented baths and the mysterious Inca well.

Ideas for walks and activities

The route is beautiful and the scenery sumptuous. Take the time to stop off in the villages, stroll through the narrow streets and café terraces, push open the door of the cheese-makers or the jam-maker’s workshop.

Leave the road behind and take to the trails: the Tech valley and its Plan d’Aste footpath, dotted with interpretation stations on water, rock and the forest; the Col du Soulor and its beautiful belvedere; the Pibeste regional nature reserve, the largest in France, with its hot, dry microclimate and original flora and fauna…

Enjoy picnics by the lakes: the natural and relaxing Lac d’Estaing; Lac de Suyen with its changing reflections; Lac d’Isaby and its legend of the enormous snake…

Discover the Donjon des Aigles, a breathtaking aerial ballet offering an exceptional animal show. Try your hand at the Chloro’fil forest acrobatic park or on the Soulor zip line. Have fun at the Lau’Folies water park or the Hautacam leisure park!
