Day 1

From Loudenvielle to Saint-Lary

29 km / 41 min

After crossing Luchon, you arrive at the Col de Peyresourde. Take time to stop for a while at the summit. Then plunge into the Louron valley, with Lake Génos-Loudenvielle in your sights. The Pyrenees welcome you with a soak in the naturally warm and comforting spring water, in the open air, your eyes riveted on this magnificent mountain range. After this comforting break, you’ll hit the road again for a final pass, the Val Louron-Azet pass, which will take you to the Saint-Lary valley, a great Pyrenean valley and luxurious base camp for the night.

On your way :

  • The Col de Peyresourde, a wide pass with breathtaking views.
  • The village of Mont and its Romanesque chapel, listed as a Historic Monument, and its exterior fresco, which has valiantly withstood the ravages of time.
  • Lac de Génos-Loudenvielle, the focal point as you make your way down the Col de Peyresourde, offering a lovely walking route.
  • The Val Louron-Azet pass, at the summit, is a vast pastureland and a favourite take-off point for paragliders.

Day 2

From Col d’Aspin to Gavarnie-Unesco

93 km / 2h07

The adventure continues, with breathtaking panoramas in store for you today. Whether you’re on the Col d’Aspin, the Pic du Midi, the Col du Tourmalet or facing the colossal Cirque de Gavarnie, you’ll be stunned by the life-size spectacle. We recommend that you arrive at the Pic du Midi in the morning for lunch, then head for Gavarnie where you’ll spend the night after discovering the Cirque. Don’t forget to stop at the pass summits to enjoy the view.

On your way:

  • The Col d’Aspin, wild and little frequented, it offers an extensive panorama of the Pic du Midi, the Arbizon and the Aure valley.
  • Lac de Payolle, nestling in a forest of fir trees, is a great place to get away from it all.
  • The legendary Col du Tourmalet, the highest road pass in the Pyrenees at 2,115 m.
  • The Pont Napoléon at Luz-Saint-Sauveur, a spectacular structure consisting of a single arch 47 m in diameter and erected 66 m high, a must for bungee jumping enthusiasts.

Well worth the diversions:

  • The interpretation trail between the Col des Tentes and the port of Boucharo on the Spanish border: an easy 1.5km walk on a virtually flat panoramic trail offering spectacular views of the peaks and 3000m peaks surrounding the Cirque de Gavarnie.
  • Notre-Dame des Neiges (Our Lady of the Snows ): a short 20-minute walk to take in the beautiful views of the village of Gavarnie and its cirque.

Day 3

From Cauterets-Pont d’Espagne to Lourdes

88 km / 2h16

Today will be gentle, harmonious and full of energy. After frolicking through the Garden of Eden in the Pyrenees, you’ll join the joyous and magical torchlight procession to Lourdes for a unique experience. Early risers can even enjoy a relaxing break in the naturally warm and soothing waters of the Bains du Rocher in Cauterets.

On your way :

  • Cauterets, with its Belle Époque monuments.
  • Take a wellness break at the Bains du Rocher, where you can relax in a refined atmosphere.
