programme

On the programme for your stay

A gastronomic getaway. Markets, cheese shops, restaurants, gourmet dinners and a visit to Madiran: a treat for your taste buds!

Arrival day (Wednesday)

Arrive and settle into your guest room.
At the gateway to the Pyrenees and close to Tarbes, you’ll be seduced by the tranquillity of this house with its swimming pool and secret garden.
The table d’hôtes, with products from the farm, will complete your experience of the good life.

Day 1 (Thursday)

After breakfast, you’ll take time to stroll through the stalls of the Halle Marcadieu market in Tarbes. This lively and varied market is a not-to-be-missed meeting place that takes place every Thursday morning.

Then make the most of your Tarbes getaway to discover the vast Jardin Massey in the very heart of the town, classified as a Jardin Remarquable (Outstanding Garden), adorned with multicoloured flowerbeds featuring rare and varied botanical species. Discover the cloister, the orangery and the Massey museum.

Afterwards, you’re free to visit the Castérieu cheese dairy in Orleix.

You will dine in a HaPy Saveurs restaurant in a warm and intimate setting near the historic centre of Tarbes, renowned for its “improved traditional” cuisine.

You will then return to your guest room for the night.

Day 2 (Friday)

After breakfast, you’ll set off for the Madiran vineyards to visit the famous Château Montus winery.

  • Introduction to the avant-garde philosophy of Alain Brumont, the Man of Renewal, the emblematic figure who revolutionised the Madiran appellation and the Tannat grape variety.
  • Discover Château Montus, listed as a historic monument, one of the oldest wine-producing mansions in the region (dating from the 10th to the 20th century), the Cuvier bachique and the Cathédrale du Tannat where the wine is matured in foudres, demi-muids and barrels. Stroll around the Château’s moving garden, designed by Gilles Clément.
  • Visit the first historic underground ageing cellar at Château Bouscassé, a family estate designed by renowned architect Edmond Lay, the formal garden at Château Bouscassé and its kitchen garden.
  • Immerse yourself in the vines and discover the terroirs that give each cuvée its identity. All the secrets of the DNA of a great wine will be revealed.
  • Explained and narrated tasting of 6 wines, accompanied by amuse-bouches made from exceptional local produce.

Dinner on your own. You will then return to your guest room for the night.

Day 3 (Saturday)

After breakfast, you’ll head off to Vic en Bigorre to discover its market hall, built in 1862, and enjoy the fresh produce on offer at the traditional Bigorre market, which is colourful, lively and friendly…

We recommend that you continue on to Lourdes. Here you can visit the riverside Sanctuary, an architectural ensemble unique in France. In addition to the Sanctuary, you can also discover the castle perched on its rocky peak, climb the Pic du Jer on board the funicular railway, and enjoy the lake of Lourdes and its water sports activities.

You will then return to your guest room for the night.

Day 4 (Sunday)

After a final breakfast, you’ll set off to discover another of Tarbes’ markets, featuring a host of producers in the Halle Brauhauban.
