Loudenvielle

Balnéa

If you need to pamper yourself from head to toe, head for Balnéa in the Louron valley. Relax in the Roman, Japanese, Amerindian and Inca baths. Get your body moving in the swimming lanes of the Olympic pool or at theInstitut du Sport. Wake up your taste buds with balanced local cuisine. Treat yourself to a pampering massage and enjoy a breath of fresh air in a natural setting.

A pioneer of balneotherapy in the Hautes-Pyrénées and a national benchmark, the Balnéa centre operates discreetly but successfully in one of the most beautiful settings in the Pyrenees, on the shores of Lake Génos-Loudenvielle in the Louron valley.

Away from the main routes linking France and Spain, and hemmed in by two of the Pyrenees’ great historic destinations, Saint-Lary and Luchon, this small, long-forgotten valley is now delightfully cultivating its image as a chic, unspoilt enclave. In harmony with its natural setting, Balnéa’s architecture features vast glass roofs and raw materials such as stone and wood. And over 4,000 m2, 4 areas invite you to travel, based on the concept of the Baths of the World.

The Roman Baths

The hushed atmosphere of this place, reserved for the over-12s, invites you to relax and recharge your batteries. Under a glass dome, a large pool with water at 33° relaxes you in a world of Greco-Roman inspiration. Behind the waterfall, a grotto invites soothing pleasures. A mist of pure sulphurous water refreshes you before you immerse yourself in the various pools:

  • a tepidarium, a whirlpool bath at 33°C
  • a caldarium, a 35° bath
  • a frigidarium at 16°C

The round hammam, adorned with mosaics and stone vaults, is reminiscent of Roman art. In a veranda bathed in light, the jacuzzi relaxes as you gaze out at nature. Under a mysterious dome, the 34° musical bath diffuses the scent of jasmine.

The Japanese baths

In the open air, three panoramic pools at 33, 35 and 36°, invite you to relax as you follow a path lulled by atmospheric music where massaging jets take care of your legs and lumbar region. Behind the wisps of steam, you can take in the view of the Pyrenean peaks. An astonishing blend where the Zen spirit of Japan meets the silent beauty of the Louron valley.

The cryo-tonic pavilion completes the offer for twice the well-being. An ice cabin at around 8°C. Ideal for general stimulation of the body, it is equipped with a starry sky chromotherapy lighting system, a wall and an ice fountain.

A four-season shower with a high flow of pure sulphur water varies according to the programme. Music and lighting effects add a pleasant touch to the atmosphere. A walking trail with a 20-jet lateral system provides an optimal massage for ankles and calves, before relaxing on one of the three thermal loungers while controlling the temperature.

At the same time, two glass saunas facing an enchanting setting are equipped with a hidden stove with automatic water and essence dosage.

The Amerindian baths

Fun and energetic, all the activities here are designed for family enjoyment: swimming against the current, geysers, bubble beds, fun showers, goosenecks, Jacuzzis, waterfalls, all in water at 33°.

Huge totem poles stand guard in North American Indian architecture.

The Inca and Mayan baths

Directly linked to the Amerindian baths, these two outdoor pools allow children aged 9 months and over and their parents to enjoy 34° hot water in the heart of nature, with a view of the surrounding mountains. The exotic atmosphere of the Inca and Mayan civilisations, with temples, totem poles, bamboo and statuettes, is astonishing. The many activities can be enjoyed to the sound of Peruvian music: counter-current swimming, hydromassage jets, geysers, massaging showers, bubble beds and a jacuzzi opening onto the outdoor landscape.
