The Pyrenees wildlife park

Welcome to Guiana, Land of Colours!

With over 500 animals and 120 different species in a wonderful, relaxed environment, the Argelès-Gazost animal park is committed to education and animal welfare. In an atmosphere that combines education and leisure, this trail aims to raise public awareness of species protection. While the focus is on Pyrenean fauna, it also welcomes more exotic animals. For the more adventurous, spending a night up close to wolves or bears is an unforgettable experience not to be missed.

26 years old

26 years of passion

Since 1999

Today, the Pyrenees Wildlife Park boasts one of the finest collections of wild animals in Europe, in a modern spirit of animal welfare, safety, recreation, education and understanding, all in the service of nature conservation.

The Park’s philosophy: to amaze you in order to raise your awareness of the need to protect and preserve species.

La France

France, the most beautiful country in the world

The theme of the park

Serge Mounard, Director of the Park, tells us:

“Refocused today on French fauna, the Park brings together over 100 species from mainland France and overseas, including an original collection of wetland birds, the 4 largest European vultures, bears, wolves, otters, etc.

In 2012, the Parc Animalier des Pyrénées set up its own foundation, Pyrénées Conservation, to further its convictions and its fight to protect the biodiversity of the Pyrenees. The foundation is involved in a number of conservation projects, including the Percnoptera project, the reintroduction of the Iberian ibex and the breeding of Bearded Vultures”.

unusual

An unusual night in the park

With bears and wolves

The bear refuge

A magnificent wooden cocoon, you will be nestled at the top of the bear enclosure with an exceptional panoramic view. Nao and Kuma move before your very eyes, so there’s no need to move from your bed or your living room – the bay window extends across your entire living space to make the most of this unforgettable experience.

The trapper’s hut

An authentic larch log trapper’s hut with cosy, warm comfort. Macho and Sakia, the alpha couple, set the pace for the life of the pack. Share with them the high points of their lives – games, meals, dominance and howls – a wonderful opportunity to leave tales and legends behind and get to know the wolf, who fascinates as much as he intimidates.
